IGPX: Immortal Grand Prix: story, themes, characters and adaptation

A motorsport where the racing line can fight back

IGPX turns a team race into a contact contest between two groups of three humanoid machines. Speed, blocking, mechanical reliability and coordinated attacks all affect track position, so the science-fiction equipment changes the sport without removing recognisable ideas such as promotion, team orders, sponsorship and competitive pressure.

  • Complete 26-episode television production
  • Original Production I.G and Cartoon Network co-production
  • Three-versus-three high-speed mecha racing
  • Two competitive seasons form one continuous story

Team Satomi has to become more than talented individuals

Promotion from IG-2 puts Team Satomi against better-funded and more experienced IG-1 organisations. Takeshi's instinct, Liz's defensive judgement and Amy's analytical role only become effective when the pilots trust a shared plan. The series therefore treats teamwork as a practical racing system rather than a slogan added after each result.

Episode and viewing guidance

Production I.G records a 5 October 2005 Japanese start, 26 episodes at approximately 30 minutes each and a complete archive through episode 26. Its own episode and home-video records also state that episodes 25 and 26 were unaired on Japanese television, so a Japanese broadcast list can appear to stop before the produced ending. Expect high-speed crashes, machine-to-machine combat, injuries, hostile team tactics and sustained competitive stress.

  • Mecha collisions and combat during races
  • Pilot injuries and medical jeopardy
  • Aggressive rivalry and intimidation
  • No verified India service is inferred from a current United States archive

Frequently asked questions about IGPX: Immortal Grand Prix

Is IGPX a sports anime or a mecha anime?

It is both. League promotion, coaching, team roles and race strategy provide the sports structure, while piloted humanoid machines and a purpose-built future city supply the science-fiction framework.

Does IGPX end at episode 24?

No. Production I.G documents 26 produced episodes and archives episode 26. Its official records note that episodes 25 and 26 were unaired on Japanese television, which explains shorter Japanese broadcast listings.
