Summer Wars begins with Kenji pretending to be Natsuki's fiancé at Sakae Jinnouchi's ninetieth-birthday gathering. When a stolen account helps a rogue intelligence disrupt OZ, the crowded house stops being a comic obstacle and becomes the response team. Relatives contribute military access, emergency knowledge, hardware, social connections and competitive gaming skill, turning family structure into practical infrastructure.

OZ connects convenience to systemic risk

OZ combines communication, commerce, public administration and device control behind personal avatars. That concentration makes a compromised identity more dangerous than a stolen social account: transport, emergency services and physical machinery can all be affected. The film keeps the crisis legible by showing how a global technical failure reaches one household's telephones, screens and responsibilities.

Summer Wars is science fiction about a network used alongside ordinary physical life, not an isekai story in which the cast permanently travels to another world. Its bright family-adventure tone includes bereavement, a cyberattack, dangerous infrastructure failures, military technology, threats to populated areas, family conflict and sustained peril involving children. The action is intense but not graphically violent.
