Profile overview
Acnologia begins from hatred of dragon violence but reproduces it on a greater scale. By refusing every distinction among dragons, he turns trauma into a total category of enemies. Once the dragons are nearly gone, the need for domination remains and expands.
His near-immunity to magic makes ordinary escalation useless. The final answer is structural rather than individual: motion sickness destabilizes the body, Fairy Sphere converts an entire continent's magic into restraint and seven Dragon Slayers combine power against the separated spirit.
Acnologia is a human Dragon Slayer who becomes the Black Dragon through extensive use of Dragon Slayer Magic during the ancient dragon war. After witnessing and participating in an age of mass destruction, he turns his power against dragons without distinguishing protector from aggressor and eventually adopts the name Acnologia. Centuries later he is feared as the Dragon King. He devastates Tenrou Island, where Fairy Sphere saves Fairy Tail's members from apparent annihilation, and later fights Igneel during the Tartaros crisis, losing an arm but killing the Fire Dragon King. In the final war, Acnologia absorbs the space between time and splits into a rampaging physical dragon and a spirit that imprisons the remaining Dragon Slayers. Fairy Tail and its allies must immobilize the body while the seven Dragon Slayers unite against the spirit.
