Profile overview
Freed's magic expresses a desire to make conflict orderly. His runes define who may enter, when someone may leave and what punishment follows a broken rule. The Battle of Fairy Tail demonstrates the moral limit of that precision: a perfectly written rule can still serve an unjust purpose.
His development does not require abandoning Laxus. Instead, loyalty changes from executing every command to protecting the person and guild from choices that betray their better values. Freed becomes more trustworthy when friendship includes the courage to disapprove.
Freed Justine is the leader of Fairy Tail's Thunder God Tribe and a master of Dark Écriture and Jutsu Shiki enchantments. Reserved, formal and intensely loyal to Laxus Dreyar, he helps initiate the Battle of Fairy Tail by surrounding Magnolia with rune barriers and imposing rules that turn the city into a controlled contest. Freed defeats several guildmates and becomes cruel enough in his fight with Elfman to trigger Mirajane's return to Satan Soul. After Mirajane defeats him, he recognizes that obedience has helped Laxus harm the family they claim to strengthen. Freed later fights beside Fairy Tail, participates in the Tenrou Island conflict and remains with Laxus through expulsion, return and the guild's temporary dissolution.
