Manga versus anime
The manga makes Sho the most openly wounded by Erza's supposed betrayal and uses his Card Magic both for her abduction and for his imperfect attempt to save her from Etherion.
The anime adds time to the childhood bond and the rescue party's movement through the tower, reinforcing why Sho thinks of Erza as family. Official Kodansha volumes 10 through 12 cover the companions' capture of Erza, Jellal's elimination game and the Etherion crisis. Hiro Shimono voices Sho in Japanese.
