Profile overview
Kyo's anger is both real emotion and defensive choreography. If he turns fear, embarrassment or affection into a fight, he can remain active instead of admitting that another person has the power to reject him. His bluntness makes him easier to read than he believes, but shame keeps him from trusting what others see.
His rivalry with Yuki gives that shame a convenient target. Defeating the Rat appears to promise acceptance, even though the Sohma hierarchy created Kyo's exclusion long before either boy could choose it. Growth begins when he distinguishes inherited comparison from the relationships directly in front of him.
