Manga versus anime
The manga gradually reframes Isshin's early comic behavior after revealing his Soul Reaper identity, then uses Everything But the Rain to connect the Kurosaki and Shiba families. His Bankai remains unrevealed and should not be assigned an invented appearance or ability.
The original anime extends some clinic comedy and the Grand Fisher confrontation. Thousand-Year Blood War gives the family history a more unified visual treatment, with Toshiyuki Morikawa shifting cleanly between the younger captain and present-day father.
