Profile overview
Ryuken's cold language creates distance between sincere concern and the person meant to receive it. He tells Uryu there is no profit in being a Quincy, presenting rejection as practicality, while quietly maintaining the skill, equipment and historical knowledge that prove he never discarded the tradition completely.
His development is deliberately understated. Ryuken rarely apologizes or explains affection; he prepares solutions and lets action carry the message. Ryuken Ishida is Uryu's father, the director of Karakura General Hospital and a pure-blood Quincy who openly dismisses the vocation his son values.
