Profile overview
Grimmjow defines freedom as refusing to kneel. Rank matters because it confirms strength, but obedience feels intolerable when it prevents him from proving that strength directly. His anger at Ichigo grows from recognition: both fight through instinct, pride and a need to protect identities they refuse to surrender.
Their rivalry develops because Grimmjow wants an honest answer. He restores the conditions for a fair fight, even when doing so violates Aizen's rules, because victory over an injured or restrained Ichigo would not settle the question that matters to him. Pride produces cruelty, but it also gives his actions a consistent code.
Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez is an Arrancar who holds the rank of Sexta Espada in Sosuke Aizen's army. Once a panther-like Adjuchas who fought to become king among Hollows, he enters the World of the Living without permission, identifies Ichigo as a rival and repeatedly pursues a decisive battle that no commander can make him abandon.
