Omaeda's vanity is genuine, but it is not the whole person. He talks about wealth and comfort because they offer an identity larger than being the subordinate Soi Fon constantly criticizes. When a threat reaches civilians or family, the performance drops faster than the fear.
His best moments do not require fearlessness. Omaeda understands the danger posed by Baraggan and BG9 and acts while afraid, making his courage less elegant but more recognizable. Loyalty appears as distraction, delay and taking the hit that keeps someone else alive.
Marechiyo Omaeda is the lieutenant of Squad 2 under Soi Fon and an officer of the Stealth Force. He is also the wealthy president of his family's precious-metals business.
