Profile overview
Jaken turns devotion into a complete identity. Rank, safety and self-respect all seem to come from standing near Sesshomaru, so every dismissal produces panic without weakening allegiance. The exaggeration is comic, but it also shows the insecurity beneath his claims of superiority over humans and lesser demons.
Travelling with Rin gives that loyalty a practical test. Jaken complains about childcare and resents the attention she receives, yet repeatedly watches over her when Sesshomaru is absent. Responsibility grows underneath the protest, making his actions more generous than the hierarchy he continues to announce.
Jaken is a small imp-like demon who follows Sesshomaru as his retainer. He handles practical tasks, carries the two-headed Staff of Heads and loudly praises his master even when Sesshomaru offers little reassurance or recognition.
