The manga presents Miyako's fatal mission through a compact flashback: her patrol is destroyed by Metastacia, and Kaien goes after the Hollow. Her exact last moments receive less staging than the consequences carried by Kaien and Rukia.
The anime expands the flashback and depicts Miyako apparently returning before the Hollow's control is revealed, making the attack more immediate and altering the sequence of her death. That anime staging should not be substituted for the manga's shorter account. Sumi Shimamoto voices Miyako in Japanese.
